IHA serves as state liaison to the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). Member concerns with regard to JCAHO are brought to JCAHO's attention and new initiatives, proposals and standards from JCAHO are enacted only after input from IHA. For hospitals not accredited by JCAHO, state licensure and regulatory issues as well as Federal Conditions of Participation are followed by IHA.
